FeedWordPress

FeedWordPress is an open-source Atom/RSS aggregator for the WordPress blog publishing platform. You set up feeds that you choose, and FeedWordPress syndicates posts from those sources into your WordPress posts table, where they can be displayed by your WordPress templates like any other post — but with additional meta-data, so that your templates can properly attribute the post to the source it came from.

FeedWordPress was originally developed because I needed a more flexible replacement for Planet to use at some aggregator sites that I administered. You can use FeedWordPress to create aggregator sites that bring together posts from many different sources, using the WordPress templating engine to display posts from all around the web. Or you can use it to bring together activity from your blogs, social networks and other online services, into a Lifestream with all your online activity in one place.

FeedWordPress is designed with flexibility, ease of use, and ease of configuration in mind. You’ll need a working installation of WordPress (version 4.5 or later), and the ability to add plugins to your WordPress environment, either using WordPress’s Add Plugin feature or SFTP/FTP uploads. The ability to create cron jobs on your web host is helpful but not required.

    • Thanks for the fix! It’s working as expected now. But there’s another problem.

The individual category page returns a ‘No results’ message. Once this plugin is disabled, it shows all the posts in that category again.

      Thanks.

      Scott.

  1. I find that my feedWordPress can’t update a RSS feed after the first syndication. Could you please advise? Many thanks.

  2. after installing I added 5 feeds then it wouldn’t validate any other feed I tried to add. I deleted all the feeds and still it won’t validate any feeds. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still won’t validate any feed, even the ones it originally took. Something is seriously wrong here…

  3. Well, I give up with this plug in. No answers to solutions are ever forthcoming, in fact I don’t even think the author bothers to post here any more. I’ve had no end of issues with this plug-in’s settings and now, the last straw is it’s randomly removing feeds. Got up today and all my feeds had gone from the list.

Not to mention half of the global or local options don’t work such as linking articles to the original site but still allowing comments locally. Click comments and I’m taken to the original site. Pfft… Even for free I expect things to work. Know what I’m saying?

Time to pack up, move on and find something with support I think.

  4. A request, is it possible to add a feature which instead of unsubscribing just deletes posts from the syndicated link. Also, if possible to give an option to periodically delete all posts from all syndicated links.

For I have a blog with lots of posts and I just want to delete all old posts but keep syndicating.

Waiting for your reply (email mentioned).

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards.

  5. Thank you for this great plugin! I have one problem if you take a look at http://teaterbaest.dk/blog/ you can see that the danish characters are replaced by their hex code equivilant eg å is shown as å. The danish characters show up fine in the text of the post. Is there anyway to fix this? I will gladly buy you some coffee for yor help 🙂

  6. I love this plugin, it does pretty much everything I could expect, but I am having one problem, when I set it to delete post after they no longer appear in the feed it does not work. I then set it to retire post no longer in the feed. That is working fine except tons of post are now in retired post status.

The problem is there are so many retired post, it will take me days to go through and delete them manually via the admin interface. OK, my fault for not logging in and doing this every week but I manage hundreds of sites so any one site tends to not get attention unless there is a specific issue or an update needed for a client etc.

Could we have an option to move old post to the trash instead of to retired status using this same method as auto retire since that does work very well? Retired post are much harder to eliminate in bulk if needed. I have 30k of them to delete now and the bulk delete plugin I also use does not recognize “retired post”

    Thanks, Robert

  8. Hi, not sure if this question has be ask before, but I have been using your plugin for about a month now and it works great. only thing is I subscribe to a few feeds and only one out of the 3 that i subscribe to pulls in the full post and the other 2 pulls in partial post. Is this something that can be fix?

  9. Hello. Are you planning on updating this plugin to be compatible with WP 4.3.1? I have used it previously and find it very good, but it seems not to be working on a new WP install we’ve just setup – when you add a new feed it doesn’t appear in the syndicated sites.
    Thanks.

  11. My feeds have been working just great until today when they all seem to have dis-appeared. When I log in to dashboard and click on the syndication feed, it shows that I have 0 feeds configured when there were almost 20 till they vanished. Can you advise?
