Why Don’t You Add…

Q: Why don’t you add a feature to limit incoming syndicated posts to a certain number of words or a certain number of characters?

    A. Sounds like a good idea. I would like to be able to implement this feature as an add-on filter module for FeedWordPress. If you’re interested in getting this feature for FeedWordPress, consider a gift to support development on the FWP+: Limit size of posts project.

Q: Why don’t you add a feature to strip HTML tags from incoming posts?

Q: Why don’t you add a feature to allow FeedWordPress to display syndicated posts on a specific page, instead of importing them into the main posts database?

    A. This isn’t what FeedWordPress does. Sorry. FeedWordPress is designed for importing posts into the WordPress posts database, and that will make the posts appear in the main stream of posts unless you do some ugly hacking to try to get around it. I have no plans to add such a fundamentally different mode of operation to FeedWordPress; it would be better implemented as a separate plugin. (If you are interested in such a separate plugin, and cannot find one that suits your needs, you should feel free to contact me; I’d be happy to discuss developing one.)

Q: Why don’t you add an option to exclude updating tags and categories on already downloaded posts? Right now if you go in and clean up the tags and categories the way you want, that gets blown away the next time you run a feed update.
